To settle an argument between 2 friends...

I don't think there's a car on the road that couldn't get you in court and probably banned for speeding.

My thought entirely - the T5 has more power, and a higher top-end so the MV6 would "take it on the motorway"?

Must be drugs, dojj!

You must have an LS or CD spec car, SRi spec 2.2 have the gear ratios just right for the car - very nippy indeed, I was tempted to buy one myself (could get good discount) - I think if times were hard I'd flog my S60 and buy a used 2.2Sri. Sri spec suspension and steering is good as well.

Stereos are disappointing though.

I don't know about the drugs, but at one of the car shows this year, the autobarnstormers club was there and they had figures about all their cars and stuff the 24V Carlton did 6.6 to 60 the 3.2 omega did it in 9.0 when asked they looked a little silly and made their excuses and then blanked me :)

got an SRi once it's singing it's fairly quick, but it's still lacking the huge power that I'm used to :) you are right about the stereo though, it's a little disappointing I've just figured how to work the trip computer and indicators though :) all I need to do know is work out what those little dials on the indicator stalk are for, cruise control possibly? and whats the deal with the number plate lights coming on when you unlock the car? and why can't I undo the boot from inside the car? it just beeps at me like a ignorant bit of beepery *shakes fist*

didn't you have a 620ti???

Yep, IIRC it's cruise on the indicator stalk and trip on the wiper stalk (that's as bad as the indicators....)

hmmm - not sure on those too but I do like the permanently lit centre console / gear changer (light in roof near mirror). Seats in the Sri aren't bad either, and the ride / handling tradeoff is spot on in my book for a big saloon.

2.2 engine sounds good when pushed hard, got mine off the ground twice on test drive (solo drive, no salesman) but the choice of spending 15k on one of them or the S60 the S60 had it on power, refinement, badge, build quality, snobbery, space, comfort etc. Got the S60 off the ground once on the test drive, with the salesman in it.... Oddly enough he hasn't let me test the S60R yet.

one of the few that haven't :)

it's the last peice in the puzzle there's no hand book to dechiper it with though :(

it does handle fairly well it's a bit jittery on the limit though and you expect it's going to be one othose cars that lets go in a rush rather than being progresive in it's breakaway haven't had the tyres chirping or even squealing yet, maybe i'm not putting on enough revs? but it does bog down quite spectacularly trying to pull away from the lights :)

it's better than the 607 I had for a few hours next on the list of things to get is one of the D5 Volvo things, mate has been in a drive of one and says it's almost as good a handler and just as quick point to point as his C70

New Vectra has as much or more room inside than the Omega.

(and this onetells of the auto version) so it's clear to see that, on paper, the Volvo is going to paste the omega but according to at least one report, it's not that quick make up your mind time folks ;)

\ I also found the traction control was working today, might explain the lack

The stability control on my volvo allows just the right amount of wheelsping for a quick getaway - 0-60 runs are the same with it on or off. The Vectra is just not quite as clever -

I dont reckon there would be much in it, but a T5 vs 24v carlton would be much more interesting.

Or even better V70 T5 vs Lotus Carlton Estate :-)

(Still haven't heard from them about that conversion...... :-( )

No it isn't. The Z4 is rank. Had good look round one a while back.

I tried and failed miserably to extract more than 70mph from mine on a downhill bit of the dual A40. :o Still plenty more than enough to get you banned in a 30 limit though; assuming you could actually keep it on those roads at that speed.

The T16 Rover twincam swap should give it a helping hand though! :)

i'd say the volvo t5 would be quicker 0-60 but the omega would feel quicker.

the new Z4 looks better than the old Z3 but it doesn't mean that it looks good :) it's not an ugly car by any means, it's just "not right"
