BX's took a bit longer, about 8 years for the tail lights, rest to follow by 10 years. I think this a symptom of cheap copper plated steel wiring. Electric current mainly flows on the surface of the wire so the bean counters hit on idea of using copper plate as the surface conductor and very cheap steel wire to support it. Sadly this sets up an electrolytic cell and the steel wire corrodes quite quickly from the exposed cut ends at every connector.

About that new Golf they used for golf driving practice and attempted electrocution of "the small one". Are ALL the outer panels easily replaced including door skins and roof or is it just the bonnet, front wings and rear quarter panels that are bolt on?

Was the Mazda 323 before the new Madza 3 built on the Ford Focus platform with a Mazda engine? If it was, was the "Mazda" engine a Mazda engine or a Ford Zetec with Madza on the cam boxes?
