We won a prize!

LOL! But I was cooked. I still am cooked! I managed twelve hours sleep last night before I was mauled by the kittens this morning.

*cough* I can't believe you didn't spot the mole!

No, it has a chain because it has a pushrod engine. Hardly something in it's favour. It's an old tech engine that should have been binned 20 years ago.

The only point out of those above that's in the Ka's favour is low insurance.

A MkII GTI drives better, is equally cheap, if not cheaper to service, and has much better rally credentials than the anorak special you did.

If you look at the stats of the older, 59bhp Kas on Parkers, you'll note they're so woefully underpowered, that the PAS ones at like, a second slower to 60 than the none PAS ones :D

LOL! Well I slept from 5pm-midnight, then from about 5 minutes after that to 5am!

That's odd, Ford have the PAS ones as quicker to 62 than the non-PAS ones.

Given that you dislike Fords and have never driven a Ka I really don't think we can place too much reliance on your opinion here.

That comment is particularly offensive to those people who worked so hard to make the Pothunter Rally work this weekend. I hope they're not reading it. Give a navigational rally a go at some point, they're great fun!

Only I have, and I hated it, which is why I bought a Cinq. Sporting.

I thought they looked like a good idea, until I saw that they run to a

30mph average - with the aim being to drive as close to said average as possible.

Motorsport is about being the quickest, not about being close to a slow average.

Yes, but, the roads that the Pothunter Rally went along were such that the target times for each section were pretty much as fast as you could go along those particular roads (regardless of what car you were in), due to the nature of the roads - it certainly wasn't a slow average.

Seriously - give one a try one day. I might be up for offering my Navigational services.

All too wierdy-beardy anoraks with thermos flasks of weak lemon drink for my liking.

Tee hee. I imagine Conor will reply to this one too, and I predict that for once he'll be right.

I'm moderately sure you don't have a clue what you're talking about.

You have a closed mind.

Bwahaha!

Bollucks. You're showing how much a closed mind you have.

In any event, motorsport is not about being quick, it's about being skilled. Completing a time trial in X amount of minutes is harder than just twatting it around.

Of the team, driver or navigator, the driver is certainly the lesser party. The skill is in the navigation.

But since you've condemned this to the same place that quarter mile drag runs and track days, I don't expect you're going to give it a try. That's a pity. There are not many forms of motorsport one can take part in, you've written a red line through another.

No, I've researched it as I thought it looked like fun.

Then I found out it's not about being fastest, just being the most consistently slow.

Bollocks to that as a 'sport'.

Did your research involve looking at the rule book or asking people? Remember, the rule book reflects the public face of the sport, which as it is run on public roads can't afford to be seen as a race. However there are ways and means of getting round this...

As your arch-nemesis suggests, you need to give it a go. You won't be wanting to take your 75 on the Preston though...

Yup, I can see that trying to maintain such a shit average would be quite hard. In fact, maintaining any average is quite hard - however, it's also very dull.

Great. Even less reason to do it, then.

Drag racing is shit, there's very little skill involved in drag racing a road car.

Road rallying - motorsport for dullards who keep spreadsheets of fuel consumption and average speeds.

Track days are great, shame I missed the last Welsh one of the year a couple of weeks ago.

I read the rules.

I get the feeling that talking to people who do them wouldn't help 'cos they're all anoraks who's idea of quick is so far removed from mine it wouldn't help.

The 75 would be my weapon of choice, but it would be too fast for such events.

Oh well, your loss.

Chortle. I'll bet you the entry fee it wouldn't even finish. I'm serious...

You obviously know very little about how bulletproof the Alfetta designs are.

Reply to

You have even less of an idea of the performance of your car compared to the events in question.
