...and ask him to compare and contrast:
o Germany, with unrestricted A-bahnen and a flourishing, wealth creating car industry.
o This sorry Gatso ridden dump that has murdered a great engineering heritage.

OK, I know the 206 is a fantastic motor, but I dunno if it should be labelled a great English heritage...
Ah who am I kidding, of course it should!
;-)
Your suggestion will not provide enough opportunity for an MP to raise his or her public profile in an acceptably environmentally friendly manner and will therefore be rejected.
The Autobahnen aren't unrestricted
euh... no and the car industry is in the same big mess as in the UK and for teh same reasons: taxes are too important on labor.
Where 10-15 years ago German tuners were happily modifying Merc, Porsche and BMW, the "rage" today is Ford Transit vans (older than 20 years) and the air- cooled VW-bus.
The money is gone in Germany, the Autobahn is still there luckily.
Don't cry.
It's not the first time TVR, Marcos are in the dolldrums. They always emerged afterwards. The Russian owner has lost a pakket of money, will now retreat to Russia but he can't take the UK-expertise nor the specialist suppliers with him.
Within some time an Englishman will rebuy (or will be given) TVR and the cycle will commence once again.
As for Blackpool: good luck, bite the bullet and bounce back!

Shot yourself in the foot there, as all pedants do.
He said Germany had unrestricted A-bahns, this is true.
Nope, but he will have a huge amount of ex military designers, and engineers, all experience in composite materials, exotic metals and aerodynamics all at wages that make the UK seem excessive, and all begging for work.
I think you overestimate the knowledge left in Russia. It's a country that looses 1 million people of its population a year due to immigration.
Who immigrates, you think? The simple peasant who knows just enough to survive living of the land or the people you specified?
Been in Russia, seen some things I thought belonging to the middle ages. As for food, girls and cars : pretty awful (especially the food).
And they are going to make TVR's and sell them to rich Westerns? Maybe. They first can make some roads then where a TVR can drive on.
Tom De Moor
Yes, TVR has taken a lot of engineers from DRA. What was your point?
If we petrolheads start making enough noise, they'll listen.
One great advantage of low turn outs is that it does not take that many people to sack an MP; it doesn't matter who gets elected as long as they are more afraid of you than the party whip. :)
A
Some are, and in any case the purpose is not to educate your MP but to put him in fear for his job.

Please don't shatter the image of Russian women all being peasants called Natasha who are six foot tall, have hair down to their waist and are unbelievably beautiful after a little scrub up :(
