Was following a red 1.8 156 on the way home tonight, watched as the drivercasually flicked it through a couple of twisties on the B road I haunt onthe way home. He was positioning himself well, using the slack in the roadto see further around the corner, and gunning it on the exit when he couldseeWe come to a nice big wide open roundabout, plenty of visibility leading tosome dual carriageway, but he's held up on the approach, we're not. We'retackling it with a good ten miles per hour overhaul. We're clear of theroundabout, and slice past with a decisive boot of the throttle. :)Oh, yeah, the Alfa V6. Just under 28 mpg on the motorway, with me driving,and just over 18 mpg on the B roads, again me driving. Indeed. I was offered a 41%-discount on a option loaded Mitsubishje Galant Estate. Never been out a showroom that quickly... but without the car.

Back at the office our computer-man flatly refused the Galant as his company car and took a bare (no options no frills) BMW 320d instead. I was not very pleased (fleet discount on the BMW was a mere 7% and that car was about twice the price of the Galant).

Some 6 months later the 320d goes in for maintenance and the garage holder gives a BMW 850 as replacement car to our computerman. We never took the 320d back, receive some cash and the 850. I have a pleased computerman (for the moment).
