Please help....
I bought my son a 97 V6 coupe--the single key that came with it works the ignition ONLY! The keys do not unlock the doors, trunk or glove box--he has to use the key fob to unlock the doors and trunk. Additionally, the key-hole on the drivers door has been destroyed and will have to be eventually replaced. What would be my best course of action to end up with

Call a locksmith and ask him which would be better, to rekey the others or the ignition. I would bet a bunch of bucks that your car has been repoed before you owned it.
As far as the fob, you can get on on Ebay. A second key can be made as long as you have one that works with the car.
When you get it all together, post back and someone here can guide you with the rest.

Kate's suggestions are the best approach. I am in the lock business myself and I can tell you it would be a alot cheaper to go to a locksmith rather than the Ford dealer. Sounds like the ignition lock was replaced and, I would suggest changing the entire set of locks rather than rekey the existing ones. New is always better. What area are you from? I might be able to suggest a locksmith for you.
