The previous owner of my Mustang had it done by the Ford dealer down in Key West Fla (Avoid that place like the plague!) Last year, one of my rods started knocking so I had the engine replaced with a used 98 vintage. My mechanic showed me the old engine. Long bolts in short holes, short bolts in long holes and hard to reach holes had no bolts at all. S***ty head gasket job most likely resulting in my knocking rod. I heard from other sources (a BOL in the coastguard, stationed one time in Key West) that said dealer is notorious for shoddy repair work...

Well, first, it wasn't a recall. It was an additional warranty. If it was a recall, all affected head gaskets, good or bad, would have been replaced for all owners. Instead, the additional warranty only replaced head gaskets which actually failed.

The additional warranty was only for 7 years or 100,000 miles from original delivery. For the 1994 and 1995 models covered, the 7 years would have already expired a long time ago.

If, independently, you had purchased an extended warranty which covered engine repairs, and that extended warranty has since expired, I doubt you are going to get Ford to pay for any new repairs under it.

this was done to mine ... and about a week after the head gasket was replaced it happened again .. but this time I warped or cracked the block .. and the heads had some thing wrong with them as well

I got a new block (2k ) and a new radiator ( they smashed mine pulling the engine ) and they did something to the heads and put them back on .... car has 35k on it since the rebuild / replacement I have no problems with the engine .. except it like to idle high ( 2-3 K) when started

but my tranny is leaking ... the gasket between the engine and the tranny I was told? funny ford fixes one thing and brakes something else .. but it took a few years for the leak to be noticed or happen ...

I just wish they would have put the 2k heads and intake so I could have picked up some HP out of the deal .... ( 95 ...145 hp .... 99+ 190hp? ) gotta love split port
