Do these hoods give more clearance from the top of the air filter? Also, I've heard that they look nice but don't really add any performance enhancement. Is this true?

Scott,
You'll get roughly an inch and a half extra clearance. Unless your using a ram air box underneath your hood to force air in to your carb and air cleaner assembly, and your road racing at 80mph+, your not going to see any gains in performance...............
