'65-'66 Distributors

Were there different models of distributor for these years on the V8's? Such as, a "HiPo" for the K code and stock for the C code. I just picked up a distributor with 2 part #'s. On the neck it says C5OF-12131-A with 4A underneath it. On the FoMoCo stamping on the top it says C5GF12127A with 5HB underneath the top line. Anything special?

Hipo distributors had no vacuum advance The first number is a casting number The one on the tag is a part number. According to the Ford shop manual pg 9-35 A C5GF-A distributor is used on a

289 4v engine with either manual or automatic trans and NO Thermactor smog system. pg 9-36 has the details on the advance curves.

Thanks Erich. I picked this thing up for $20 and the vacuum advance diaphragm is still good. Just needs a Pertronix swap for the points and it's good to go.

a K code 289(hi-po)distributor will also have dual points IIRC.
