Hoping someone can help me with this, just converted my 65 convertible from Manual to Power steering. The car has factory air, I can't figure out how the pump mounts, the pulley won't line up with either of the crank pulleys. Here is how its mounted: The PS braket is on top of the Compressor bracket and uses two bolts which actually go into the head. The other two bolts go into the water pump and I needed about a 1/2 inch spacer betweent the bracket and water pump to get a good fit. The pump needs to go toward the rear of the car about 3/8 inch to align with the middle grove on the crank/water pump. The most forward grove goes to the A/C compressor.
Does anyone know what im doing wrong here? I can think of two possibilites:
1) I could remove the A/C compressor bracket and the PS would line up perfectly with the middle grove, problem is the A/C would no longer line up with the most forward grove.
2) Maybe I need a different pulley which sweeps rearward about 3/8", if one exists?
Maybe some kind soul could email me a detailed picture of their setup??
