Then quit arguing with yourself & accept the plain fact that you got f*cked by going to Midas. If you don't like drone, you shoulda stuck w/ the stock mufflers. Did you not get them when you had the aftermarket mufflers installed? Pitty.
And of course you'll lose a little low end grunt if you open up the exhaust too much... but usually you'll gain a few top-end ponies. In my opinion, I'd rather have the torque. But as you say:
Mufflers alone will not restore "a ton of low end torque". That's completely in your head. Keep dreaming, bud.
