Answer This > What Comes After The 2005 Mustang?

The 2005 Mustang hasn't even made its debut yet, but I have to ask, what comes next? Yeah, I know there'll be all sorts of special models like Bullets, Mach 1s, Cobra's and probably Bosses and Shelbys, but I talking about the body redo. I mean after a retro/heritage design, what comes next? Do they make the next one look like a '64.5-'66, a '71-'73, do they do a "modern retro" like a new spin on an 80's Fox Mustang, or do they try all-new cutting-edge clean-sheet design? (We'll send in the suicide bombers if they even THINK about doing a new Mustang II.) I'm asking because these days any design that's older than 4-5 years is OLD. Think about it... the '94 design only lasted 4 years. The '99 design ends in 5. That means this new 2005 Stang should be history around 2010.

So what do you guys and girls think?

Me... by 2010, I'll be ready for a "retro" V8 '87 LX or a '93 Cobra, a stripped down R model that is...

I agree. Something like a retro 87 LX would be pretty good. Little, low slung and fast. Unfortunately, they will prolly come up with something that has a flat rear end (like the Azteck) and European front end. That seems to be the trend.

Well,.... actually the 94 design lasted till 2004.

Sure there have been styling cues, sheet metal and engine differences but it's basically the same "model" of car.

Hell the interior hasn't hardly chaged a bit from 94-04 save for deletion of the clock, and ashtray.

It will be interesting to see what happens though. I'll definately have to go drive one as soon as they are flowing !!

I wouldn't mind a Fox redo as long as they didn't use that stupid dash used in the 87-93 cars. Unfortunately I think the designers would screw it up. Even after seeing an 05 in person I'm not thrilled with it. To me the 05 just looks off. It would probably be just fine on its own if there had never been a 67 to compair it to.

They'll kill off the Mustang due to low sales, and resurect the PINTO or the FALCON in a retro-mod-euro-ricer configuration pushed by a 4 cyl federally mandated gas miser that runs on juiced fruits and vegatables as mandated by a new California emissions law which states in part, "....all fuels must be dual purpose; consumable by both vehicles and people.....and all persons, illegal or not who have limited income will be permitted to feed from any parked vehicle.... and made from the stuff that goes bad in the grocery stores before it can be sold....."

Each car will have a govenor to limit the speed to 50mph, and will be a hybrid with a still and Jack LaLane Juice Machine in the cargo area. Outside of California, an open furnace hybrid powerplant will be an option, shovel included, which runs on dried cow chips, road apples, road kill, or combustibles from the local dump/recycling center.

This will lead to reduction of landfill rates across the nation forestalling a federal law turning the Grand Canyon into the National Landfill.

Ford stocks will plummet, and Ford will be bought by a French ex-president heavily invested in a new middle eastern auto manufacturer, Turbano Motors, whose vehicles are pulled by donkeys (with camels as a high power option).

After the next gas crisis, a 4 cylinder FF Mustang econobox will be in order. 0-60 in 10 seconds and a 19 second 1/4 mile. Hoo haa!
