I don't think so. The kit in mine is the same one used for all AODE/4R70W transmissions. The Transgo reprogramming kit is #AODE-HD2. See

I see "1991-2003 AOD-E / 4R70W". My 4.6L is an electronic automatic overdrive and is a 98. Is this one for 6 cylinder only I wonder?

It wouldn't matter. The shift kit is transmission specific. I'm running the HD2 kit on mine.
