clutch support bracket question?

I ordered new bushings for my clutch support bracket and they don't have a slotted straight edge like the originals. Can I just mig weld these in place? Otherwise every else fits nice....

What would be the point in welding them? Arent they bronze, anyway?

The new bushings are steel with a plastic insert. The old ones were aluminum.

Okay.

Here's the thing. it's important that they be self centering. assuming the inserts are removable, then you'd have to ensure that the bore alignmen is true when you mig them.

The plastic is the bearing surface and it will support rotation easier than will the steel so the fact the steel is 'loose' in the bracket wont matter

Can someone clue me in to what year the car is? American Mustang in Sacramento California sells clutch supports with bearings. Or they can modify a support you send or bring in. I'll post more contact information if anyone's interested. I don't want you to think I'm a spammer or anything.
