hey i want to level out my mustang, is it a bad idea for me to cut down the coil springs in the rear ? i know you can buy them, but i'm layed off right now and have more time then money on my hands.....

It is definitely a bad idea. If you want to lower it, wait until you can afford to lower the whole car, and do it correctly. You're asking for a lot of expensive trouble if you just go hacking at your springs.
A cheaper, easier, and safer solution to "leveling out the car" would be simply to put something heavy in the trunk area for the time being. You could also adjust your ride height easily as well, simply by adding or subtracting a few of whatever heavy objects you chose.
Just don't let the bodies stay in the trunk once the weather warms up. The smell makes people suspicious.

It also gets quite messy if you want to add or remove, say, 25 lbs. at a time.
