Fuel leaking from filler neck?

Looks like the filler neck seal at the tank is leaking on my 97 GT... Any alternative worth using to the factory seal? Thanks.

I thought my car was the only one with this stupid problem!

You have to drop the whole tank in order to change out that seal. Real PITA job.

Wish I had done it last night when I replaced the Fuel Sending Unit.

Until the next time the tank gets dropped, I'll be sealing the neck with that Gas Tank sealer putty stuff. I've used it before and it's works rather well.

The putty stuff comes in strips and is available at any local Auto Parts store.

I'm wondering if it falls under the 100k emissions rule... There ought to be a TSB if it's common though. Did the seal have to come from the dealer? Im in NC and I woudl like to move this car to high ground before the flooding starts...
