Gasoline Is Not Expensive

Compared with Gasoline ... Think a gallon of gas is expensive?

This makes one think, and also puts things in perspective.

Snapple 16 oz $1.29 .......... $10.32 per gallon Lipton Ice Tea 16 oz $1.19 ........... $9.52 per gallon Gatorade 20 oz $1.59 ........... $10.17 per gallon Ocean Spray 16 oz $1.25 ........... $10.00 per gallon Brake Fluid 12 oz $3.15 ........... $33.60 per gallon Vick's Nyquil 6 oz $8.35 .......... $178.13 per gallon Pepto Bismol 4 oz $3.85 ........... $123.20 per gallon Whiteout 7 oz $1.39 ............ $25.42 per gallon Scope 1.5 oz $0.99 .......... $84.48 per gallon

And this is the REAL KICKER...

Evian water 9 oz $1.49.............. $21.19 per gallon?! $21.19 for WATER - and the buyers don't even know the source.

So, the next time you're at the pump, be glad your car doesn't run on water, Scope, or Whiteout, or God forbid Pepto Bismal or Nyquil.

7 oz bottle of White out ??

I think that's 7 TENTHS of an ounce which makes the per gallon price REALLY astronomical (I'm too lazy to calc it, but feel free ) :)

I believe you are correct at .7oz. Move the decimal 1 point, and you have a bargain $254.20 per gallon.

C'mon guys

Dont fall for this analogy. It is not a simple as that.

OK, let's see. I buy about 15 gallons of gas each time I go to fill up, about 4-5 timea month. That makes 60-75 gallons a month.

The moment you need to by 60-75 gallons of Pepto-Bismol a month, then come to me with this argument (but first go to the doctor please).

Until then, it's apples to oranges.

OK look at it this way: Go out and push your 3200 lb car as far as you can until you can push no more. Then you will realize that there is a tremendous amount of energy in one gallon of gasoline. At $10 dollars a gallon it's still a steal.

None of that means anything... I probably burn about 100+ gallons/mo of gas. My car is getting 12 MPG at the moment... That will go up a few MPG as I get it tuned in and this predetonation problem sorted out (for now it's just de-tuned).

Anyway, now that I _need_ 94 octane I really don't care how much I spend on gas. The car needs it no matter what, so I'm not gonna complain. One interesting thing though is that one local Sunoco is selling 94 for $1.80, while everywhere else sells it for at least $1.90. I'm wondering if they are pulling a fast one on me though, as their 94 is only 2 cents more than their

If you're in the 'states, EVERY state/county/city (responsibilities vary per area) has a division of Weights and Measures that does several things regularly. One is to make sure the pump shows 1 gallon is really 1 gallon. Another is to measure the octane rating of the gasoline. If the octane rating is lower than advertised, the state/county/city will CLOSE the gas pumps down until it is pumped out and corrected!!!

I actually stopped the weights and measures guys a few months ago and asked them these questions, verified with the answer above. I'd always wondered if you actually get what you pay for... seeems like it'd be pretty damn'd costly if they were out of line and were cheating their customers.

Just filled up my dad's Jetta at the 76 this morning: $2.189 for premium (92). I think regular (87) is $1.999.
