Good shifter for 2000 GT ???

Oct 08, 2005 4 Replies

Hiya...

I prefer to keep my 2000 GT completely stock, but I absolutely need to get rid of the shifter. I've been putting up with that garbage shifter since I first drove the car brand new off the dealer lot for years ago. I decided I hated the shifter after ten minutes of driving.

Who makes a good shifter ??? I want to stay stock, but the thing has got to go !!!

Thanx in advance !!!

Michael

My car came with a Hurst shifter and it still feels and shifts solid. I can get on it and slam through the gears pretty good. It barks the tires in 2nd and chirps them in 3rd. Haven't missed a gear yet!

Get a Hurst shifter!

Steeda Tri-Ax, Steeda makes a great shifter as well as UD pullies for the 99+ vehicles ( 99+ UD pullies are one piece and excellent quality)

No matter which shifter you purchase/install it will be a great improvement over the stock piece.

Steeda tri-ax is great. I have used them in 2 different mustangs with great success. Make sure when you install it to install a gasket between teh shifter and the transmission. This reduces the noise a lot.

Very happy with my Hurst. Mine is on an 02 GT,which has a different tranny than the 00. Suspect Hurst has one for an 00. Martin
