Headlight problems

Hello All, I was hoping someone could help with an issue I have with my '65 Mustang convertible. After the car has been running for a while, the "ALT" indicator and headlights start flashing. I have noticed that the "ALT" indicator flashes when you use the brake or turn signals, but it isn't as often as with the headlights. I have tried replacing the battery and headlights to no avail.

You should replace the regulator. The newer replacements are solid state and not mechanical. Even if that doesn't fix it (which it probably will unless the alternator is going bad) it's a good idea to put in a modern regulator anyway. Also double check all of the connections and plugs in the charging system for corrosion. Dave

also check the headlight switch sometimes they get weak or correded and draw too much,
