Nice Joe! Have you considered ventvisors for the Dakota? I had them on my Splash and have them on my current Ranger 4x4. I really like them, especially on rainy days where I want some fresh air. Of course it may rain a bit more here than there, huh? :)

Ventvisors attach to the leading edge of the side windows (either on the exterior or inside the channel). They're like the bug guards that you put on the nose. They extend a few inches to shield a cracked window from water getting inside.

They use a double stick tape (3M, I think). The one that goes on the outside sticks right to the paint. The tape is attached to the ventvisor. You just peel the corner of the protective backing, then position it. Then pull the protective backing away and it attaches. I had it for a few years on the Splash this way. The type that goes in the channel is the same, except it somehow attaches even though the surface in there isn't smooth. I've had those on my Ranger since I got it 4 years ago and they've never slipped or moved. I did follow the directions though (don't tell the guys). :)

I like any car so long as it is fast. I think the SRT-4 is an amazing car at $21K. 13s for $21K straight off the showroom floor.... wow. You can get into the low 13s and damn close to the 12s with Mopar's own $400 upgrade package, and they'll honor your warranty with it too.

I really liked the new RX-8 until I drove one..... It's nutless. It is barely faster than my wife's turbo Beetle and it is pretty slow. Quick maybe but not fast. The RX-8 is supposed to be a world class sports car, and you can't have a world class sports car without power. The 8 is barely a 200 hp car. I outran one leaving the base the other day in a bone stock '92 5.0 with nearly 100K miles on the clock. It isn't my car, but it sure is in my posession a lot these days.

I too like Hemmings new magazine. It's a great change from many of the other auto mags.

For the record I subscribe to Grassroots Motorsports, and 5.0.

I sometimes buy and read C&D, Motor Trend, Car Craft, Bimmer, and Miata magazine.

I've been to busy with grad school to do much else lately. I graduate in May, and my GPA resides at 3.77 right now. I hope to maintain or raise it this spring and get a new job.

It is a GREAT magazine! A true breath of fresh air. In some ways it reminds me of the ol' '80's Cars Illustrated... very progressive in a traditional sort of way, if that makes sense. The thing I like about it best though, the editorials! They reflect my viewpoints some closely I feel like I penned them.

I like G.R too. They cater to the low-budget guy.

It's interesting how inflation has effected the price of 13's! The 5.0's weren't solid 13 second cars, but were easily capable. In the late 80's they were in the 12K - 15K range. Now it took much more than $400 to hit

When we went to the auto show, Pat (Anthony knows Pat) sat in the RX8. It fit him, but was fun to watch him get in and out!

Good job on the grad school grades! Maybe you'll get yourself a real job soon. :) Of course, you'll be leaving this area in only a few months.

I've never wanted to take them off, so I can't tell you. I traded the Splash in on the 99 XLT 4x4. I left them on there. They looked really good on that car with the black paint and the smoked ventvisors. It also had the "molded" bug shield to provide a balance to the look.

I'll have to check them out. One of the things that bugs me is the buffetting at highway speeds. Maybe they'll help in that respect.

I had them on my 93 Ranger XLT for ten years and they never came off. I really like them because you can crack the window in crummy weather without getting water or snow in the cab. I just put them on my 03 Ranger XLT a couple of weeks ago. On the Ranger they go inside the widow channel up top. Somehow they stick to that fuzzy seal inside the window channel and never come off, good stuff.

On my 93 Ranger Splash they attached to the outside of the window, on the body.

They come with a little, (1.5" x 1.5") 3M abrasive pad that you run over the fuzzy stuff once or twice. Then an alcohol prep pad is run over it also, then dry it with a rag. You just peel off the paper on the 3M double stick tape on the visors and push them into position. You are supposed to close the windows and keep them closed for 24 hours. They are made by The Autoventshade Company, pretty sure I bought them at VIP. I don't know how they stay on but they made it ten years on my last Ranger.

Yep that's it! I did every step, but the fuzzy stuff was still fuzzy after all was said and done. I'm up to 4 years on mine so far.
