how do I put a value on a '91 GT

Question

Hey guys, I have a question and figured I would ask for some input here. I have a bright red 1991 GT that I bought new in Oct. of 1990. The car is in great shape and only has 46,000 miles. The only thing I ever changed on it was the mufflers, I put Flowmasters on it and left the rest of the exhaust system stock. I've been considering getting rid of this car because I no longer drive it at all and it's just taking up much needed garage space. I started looking on some of the internet sites to try to get an idea of what it's worth and the numbers are all over the place, from a ridiculously low number on kbb.com to people on cars.com and traderonline.com asking what seems to be ridiculously high numbers on that year with mileage that low. Can somebody give me a hand to try to put a number on this car? Thanks for the help....Dennis

It is hard to put a value on low miles unmolested 5.0. I am going to say about $6,000 if it is a 5 speed and in exceptional condition. Here in Atlanta, you could get a little less and in Florida they might be in the $4,000 range. Hope this helps.ClaudDennis Mart

If you are not in too much of a hurry, maybe try $6,995 and neg. from there. I don't think you will scare too many people off with that as a starting price.Good Luck,ClaudDennis Mart

Accord to the NADA,your `91 should have a value of about $5,558 for a high retail price.This is usually the price one would expect off Joe's used car lot.The average price is $4,733. That is what one would expect to pay ina private party transaction. It is all going to depend on what the purpose of your exercise is in selling this car. There is a big difference between wanting to sell something and needing to sell something. If you are simply looking to get rid of it because of its non-use and aren't pressed for time I would say $6,000 should get you lookers. I wouldn't be surprised when folks offer you $5000 - to $5500 through.

If everything is as you say and the car has been garaged all its life with a manual trans I might go as high as 5K if I were in the market (which I am). That would be about half-way between high & average. However, it would have to be "THE" car if you know what I mean.

I just got finished looking at a `97 GT with almost double the milage of yours and the guy was asking $6500. He said the dealer offered him $5500 on a trade-in for his new Mach 1 and he needed a little more to pay-off the note.

Dennis: Can't agree with this assessment. I have a red 93GT with 30,000 miles. It's like new and I have onlly put on an H-pipe and mufflers. NADA said my car is worth about $6K. No friggin way!!! I've seen clean 5.0s with 60,000+ miles going for that much if not more. Of note, NADA says my

1980 Bronco is worth $11,095! What a deal, since I paid only $2,700 for this truck. Something is really, really, wrong here. If I put up my car for sale I'd ask $10.5K. Check collectorcartrader.com. There are LOTS of 5.0s there and the nice low mileage ones are in that price range. Don't give it away, cause someone will show you this stuff and then laugh all the way home if you sell it.
