How do you test for spark on 4.6 c.o.p.?

does anyone know the best way to check the ignition system for spark with coil on plug ignition? you can't just pull a plug wire and stick a spark plug in it to see if you have spark. i am guessing a code reader will be necessary, without taking a fuel rail off and removing a coil to check for spark. i realize each coil has a low voltage and a ground to it. that would just verify you have a pulse from the control module right?

I don't understand, why can't you pull a coil pack, jam a spare plug in it, and watch for spark? You can use any regular spark tester on COP, as far as I know. You can also measure the resistance in the pack just like a distributor or DIS system, you just have to do for each pack.
