What do people recommend for:
- mechanic's gloves
- nitrile gloves for parts washers/oily stuff?

I use both depending on the job at hand.
I use (and abuse!!) the Mechanix Impact II gloves and love them. Lots of protection for the back of your hand when the wrench slips. A little bulky when doing delicate stuff, but overall fantastic protection. I wear out a pair a year, and don't mind spending $40 on them. When i need to work around something really hot i slip on their Kevlar heat sleeves to protect my arms and put the gloves over them.
Super gloves, i recommend them to anyone who likes their hands.
