OT: Toilet Brush Warning: Do Not Use For...

And they wonder why everything costs so much!

Toilet Brush Warning: Do Not Use For... ...personal hygiene. Yes, this is a real warning on a real toilet brush label, and the (duh!) admonition has won the top spot in the 8th annual contest for the wackiest consumer warning label of the year sponsored by the Michigan Lawsuit Abuse Watch. The goal of the contest is "to reveal how lawsuits, and concern about lawsuits, have created a need for common sense warnings on products." Entries are submitted by alert consumers who can win $500 for a first-place prize.

That's like the one about the guy who bought a new Winnebago. He promptly takes it out on the highway, sets the auto cruise at 70, then leaves the driver's seat to go back and make himself a cup of coffee. Of course the 'Bago leaves the road within seconds and flips a few times, injuring the guy.

The guy sued Winnebago because the owner's manual didn't specify that setting the auto cruise meant that you still had to steer and control the vehicle. Believe it or not, the guy won. So now the guy's a whole lot richer and the Winnebago owner's manual now has a warning that says the vehicle may go out of control if you leave the driver's seat with the auto cruise on.

Maybe so, but NEVER underestimate the stupidity of Americans. Many fortunes have been made using this premise.
