I made such a reducer for my mother when I was a kid to get under the stove without moving it. Never hurt the vac.

I have a little mini-shop vac, Got it at OSH. It has a cutdown for small tools (use it to clean printers and things) On the cutdown, there is a valve that you can open and close to keep from overworking the motor, it turns to open the valve by degeree. It hooks up to a hose that's about 5/8 in dia... just a thought.

The sand will add weight to the car, and I would think hold moisture, making your rust return.

Is it possible to roll the car out of the garage and wash it out with some high pressure water than let it dry well in the heat?

Is this a flood car?

Water and sand in a hidden area sounds bad.... how about compressed air?
