speaking of traction, I know that was my major problem the last couple times at the track. I was thinking some gears and slicks would help. Any suggestions and/or opinions to the contrary?

A taller gearset (higher numerical ratio) would make the traction problem even worse. Getting the torque hooked up to planet earth is the first step to reducing ETs. Going to slicks will add other considerations (driveshaft loops and other safety considerations) so the easy way would be some playing.... tire compounds and widths as well as tire pressures. Pedalling the car is another option but can be real tough to do if you keep looking in the other lane (drive your own race... not the other guys) but it's tougher to get the tires to stop hazing than it is to get them started.
The bottom line is that your ET is being carried off by the breeze along with all that tire smoke.....

well, since I'm never looking in the other lane would you explain what pedalling is?
A 2 second flat or better 60' time isn't an unreasonable expectation for your setup with a decent set of tires, so you can figure traction is costing you something like a half second on your ET (if you run a poor 60', you can't make it up, so it's a dead loss). You can take off another two tenth's or so for elevation and temprature, so with reasonable traction and ideal temp and humidity, at sea level you would be into the 14's. If you've opened up the intake and exhaust, you may also be running a bit lean on top end. You might consider a bit of SCU reprogramming. In good tune, I think you should be getting a couple more MPH on top end.

appreciated.
That's when a driver has to get in and out of the throttle to try to keep from losing traction. Watch John Force in a final round when he's going full-tilt-boogie down the track. You can see the tires start to smoke as he loses traction, then he'll gain traction, and then the tires will more than likely smoke again. Not that dramatic on grudge night with a 325 hp Mustang but still the same thing happening.
Hope that helps, Gary
Haven't touched the intake or exhaust, all stock. What is SCU reprogramming?

How about PCM (power control module) which controls the EEC (electronic engine control). Wasn't sure what you meant. Thought there might have been something that I wasn't aware of. With no internal mods I'm certain the cost of an aftermarket chip is not worth the power gain. My guess now is that my next mods should include a different intake, TB and headers plus stickier tires. Any recommendations?
You mean that thingamajig that make the engine go "VAROOOOOM!!!"? lol
