Will The GT Kill The GT500?

Brent,

GT with brembo and track pack packages or GT500. Not so much the later any longer as the only reason I prefered the GT500 previously was because of the brakes and suspension. Now I can get those on a GT.

Brent's reply got me thinking. Could the new GT kill the GT500 much like the old 5.0 killed the SVO?

Could be that ALL V-8's get killed.

Back in the day, the SVO was meant to be a corner carver and GT was the tire smokin 1/4 miler.

Now the GT500 is king of the heap, and the 5.0 looks to be a pretty worthy match-up against some of Europe's better grand touring cars, like the M3.

So, no, not by the 5.0.

I doubt it. I'm an odd kind of person in that I can have 'enough' horsepower. I do like the styling of the 2011 GT500 better than the GT now. But that's not really worthy of the price bump. The other thing going for it is that the Ford engineer I talked to said the spray coating on inside of the GT500's cylinders was from a manufacturing POV an easier process to get right than the sleaving done on the new

5.0L. Pretty small reasons to spend the extra cash.

Who wants to go slideways!?
