1985 300zx

A couple years ago I picked up an 1985 300zx as a play car, but found out that it probably needed a timing belt change and other maintenance. My wrench-turning knuckle-banging days have passed, so it has been rarely driven for fear of engine destruction (oh, and my right foot gets extremely heavy when behind the wheel) since then.

But I've got a little extra money and think it's time to put it back on the street where it belongs. Any ideas on what else I should have done when I get the timing belt changed, to save time and money down the road? And how much that maintenance should run?

I've also heard there was a recall on this model years ago, involving fuel injectors (and fires and other fun things) - how would I find out if this had been done? I do smell gasoline occasionally when driving.

Any help is appreciated - and if anyone knows a good mechanic in the Muskogee, Oklahoma area, I'd really appreciate it!

T belt and tensioner and probably the front oil seals and water pump while you're there. All give problems as these get older.

Have the dealer run the vin number. They still will do the recall if it's never been done.
