Early Z tool storage

I thought that all the 240's had the tools behind the seats under plastic storage covers and the storage bins under the rear carpet with metal lids started with the 74 260z. On my microfiche it shows both versions being used on 240's. Anyone know when the change over was made from external to internal tool storage? Also, were the speakers in all the 240's in the same place as the

260's ( 1 over and one behind the strut tower on each side) or were some of the early Z's in a different place? TIA Shannon

IIRC only the earliest 240Z, "series 1" as some call it, lacked the bins in the rear deck beneath the carpet. I had one of these cars, it's production date on the door was Nov. 1970. My 71 and 73 both have the bins.

I have never had a Z with stock speakers so I can't address that one.
