Jacking points

Please give me some advice on this one. Many service stations and garages try jacking the 84-89ZX from the side to facilitate tire removals for inspection, etc. The under-body looks like it has frame rails, but in fact these are about as thin as sheet metal. My factory service manual shows jacking point adapters for the side of the car that could be inserted where the factory spare tire jack goes. Are these available? Of course, you can jack under the diff and under the cross member in font of the oil pan. What about hydraulic jacking from the side without crushing the body? Has anyone ever repaired their crushed box sections or reinforced them so the vehicle could be jacked there? Thanks in advance.

SImple, jack them on the 'pinch weld' at the front and rear corners of the rockers. That part of the car should be very strong. If it's not, rust has eaten the car up!

With a flat lift pad, you should be able to lift the car on the frame rails, If you can't and the crush, again they are rusted out.

Thanks for the hints Steve. How do you keep the monster jack with the crushing teeth away from those thin underbody fram rails? Keeping the lift's jacking point flat is a great idea.
