Speedometer works, checked sensor- OK, pulled instrument cluster and cleaned and adjusted all plug contacts.
Did not check continuity from instrument cluster to ECU (yet).
Does anyone know what signal the instument cluster sends to the ECU for vehicle speed?
Experiences, advice appreciated.

You may have that backwards -- the ECU may send a speed signal to the instrument cluster, and get speed pulses direct from the sensor.
Fixed.
The Plug connectors to the back of the instrument panel had poor press fit connnections. Cleaned, straightened, and adjusted plug contacts for more spring and fit.
