Dash Light Wires

Aug 08, 2006 2 Replies

Just bought my 98 Sentra on Friday and I love it!

The guy I bought the car from had the stereo and speakers installed by Wal-Mart and told me that ever since they had been installed, the dash lights had not worked and the radio did not retain any station settings, etc.

I thought I could handle fixing that as I have installed head units and speakers before. There was no constant power to the pink wire and no switched power to the blue wire - traced these both to blown fuses in the fuse panel on the drivers side and re-wired properly (Wal-Mart had used the interior light Red/Yellow and Red/Green wires for power).

The radio now turns on with the ignition, and not the lights, and it retains the station settings. Now, this is where I am stuck - where do I connect the Red/Yellow and Red/Green interior light wires to get the dash lights functioning again?

Regards,

Steven

Okay, I have done some more searching online and found out that the Red/Green is the Illumination wire and the Red/Yellow is the Dimmer wire, but I still have no idea where to connect these.

Any help?

Steven

should just be the dimmer for the stock head unit, try your fuses, might bave blown the fuse, dash light circuit is not designed to power a head unit so probably a blown fuse. Most aftermarket head units do not support the dimmer function so clip and cap that wire to avoid short circuits in the future
