Hi all,

1990 PU 2wd fuel pump problems. 100k plus miles, Strange problem, the truck quits when fuel level reaches 1/2 tank level, pump starts whining and the truck quits,4 cyl engine, electris pump in tank, replacement pump is 190.00 usd plus installation time or pay sone-one. I have verified fuel gauge is correct.
  1. can the pump be remmoved through the pu bed, there seems to be a panel there?
  2. Can the pump internal piping come loose or crack on the suction side causing loss of prime?
  3. Any help is welcome. Thanks in advance. Paul

you probally just need to get in there and check it out, lots of cars do have a removable panel to access the pump, they seem to be about 5 inches in diameter, large enough to remove fuel pump assy.
