Japanese chassis number and year model dependence

Hello,

I would like to know what the chassis number means.

Here are some chassis numbers / year model of Nissan Terrano:

WBYD21-028304 1989 WBYD21-033042 1990 WBYD21-033427 1990 WBYD21-051826 1991 WBYD21-053905 1991 WBYD21-061760 1991 WBYD21-064323 1991 WBYD21-090325 1992 WBYD21-091050 1992

Does it mean for example that the car with the chassis number

WBYD21-043701 was produced between 1990 and 1991 since the number falls between

WBYD21-033427 1990 WBYD21-051826 1991

Is it true for all types of cars? I.e. the chassis number is

with the sequence number increasing from an older to a newer unit.

the connection is Nissan Terrano model 1990-1991 and win98 are both junk.
