Pathfinder steering stop caps?

Just use a pair of pliers to wiggle the old ones off and then just tap the new ones into place with a ball peen hammer (a few light raps will do it).

When I did them in the shop I always put a touch of grease on the caps (or whenever someone came in for an oil change).

Thanks--but dumb question: where are the caps, and how do I access them? (You can see I don't have a shop manual!)

AH! Ok. They are located behind each of the front tires (if memory serves, there's one in front and one in the rear of each tire. At least on my '95, I think. :-) ).

If you park with your wheels straight ahead and then crawl under from the front and look about 1/4-1/2-way up the inside of the wheel area and you'll see the `adjusting stud' that the caps are on. You should be able to just pop them off while you're under there, though it may be easier to get to the rear mounted ones if the wheel is turned a bit to allow better access and then crawl in from the side of the vehicle (behind the tire, so to speak).

They are on the lower part of the front suspension. Easy to find, actually, and of course there's four of them. Lubricating them will stop some disturbing clunking noises and slight lurches when you go over bumps with the wheels turned to lock.

Doubtless Nissan wants a fortune for new ones. It's easy to find the contact spots and grease them. Just repeat now and then. Nissan dealers should do it for free, just like they will do the spare tire carrier hinges, if you ask them when it's in for service.
