Replacing Oxy sensor - 91 Pickup

Jul 30, 2003 1 Replies

Does anyone know how to remove the oxygen sensor on a 91 pickup - 4 cyl. KA24E? It threads into the exhaust manifold, but the threads are recessed too far in to get a wrench around it. Does it take a special tool or does anyone know of any tricks? Thanks much.

It takes a special wrench. You can use a regular deep 22mm (7/8") socket to remove the old sensor by cutting off the wire beforehand, but you will need the special wrench to install the new one. It has a slot down one side to allow for the wire. They're rather expensive, so if you can borrow one, you'll be better off.
