Stereo Removement and replacement

Feb 26, 2004 7 Replies

Hi all,

I have a Nissan primera 1.6 gx estate S reg. (1997 ?)

I wish to remove the stereo and replace with my own choice of unit, how do I get the thing out, there are 2 visible screws on the facia panel at the bottom but this does not enable me to get the facia plate off to get to the unit, any advice or urls of diagrams/instructions would be great.

Thanks,

Lee

Removement?? :-P Try Crutchfield.com, you'll have to convert to US modles though.

I have a Nissan Primera 1.6 LX (L Reg), but it might be the same, so worth a go.

If I remember right you take off the bottom 2 screws as you have done, now the top part of the fascia is connected to the centre fans. You need to pull the fascia putwards (from the bottom) and at the same time de-attach the fans / control panel from the fascia thus freeing so you can then pull downwards and out.

That was the general idea in mine, but the model may have changed in those years in between yours and mine, plus also the method description may be vague, but I did this a year ago or so! :-P

Anyway hoped I in part helped!

We didn't get the Primera here in the US (nice car - I drove one in Ireland), but Nissan sold it under the Infiniti name as the G20. Try searching that way for an adaptor. It will likely work.
