Stuck door lock, 96 Pathfinder

Feb 15, 2005 1 Replies

One of my rear power door locks is stuck in locked position. Is this a common problem, and is there an easy cure? I gave the latch a good shot of silicone when it (briefly) opened TOD, but it's stuck again.

For that matter, is there an easy cure for a sluggish power window? Driver side, natch. Slower in cold weather, so I suspect a lubrication problem.

Are there online guides to assembly & disassembly of door hardware?

Thanks in advance, Pete Tillman, who'd wondered how long this fancy power door stuff would keep working.

Answer: about 8.5 years (truck built 8-96).

Pathfinder power locks have been known to act freaky in cold weather. I've heard from experienced mechanics that the cause is the latch assembly. The typical symptom is something like this: you slam the door and all the lock buttons shut down. Or you unlock the door and one button pops up, only to pop back down again.

I don't know whether that's your problem, but I hope it helps.
