Vibration in steering wheel...

Jan 23, 2004 1 Replies

I have a '01 Sentra SE with 16" rims. I recently got new tires. I had an alignment and got the tires balanced. Above about 65, I get vibration in the steering wheel and at about 75 it is uncomfortable to hold. I went back to where I got the tires balanced and they balanced them again. I still have the problem. I haven't gone back to see what they suggest yet but does anyone else have any suggestions on what it might be?

It could be bent wheels. I had a few of the stock 16" wheels bend (18 year old driver off at college...) (I would think the folks who balanced the wheels would notice if that was the case.) Bad alignment could cause abnormal wear on the tires (when she came home for a week, I found the shaking, there was steel poking out of the side of the tire.) I'd have another place check the 'trueness' of the wheels, balance & alignment.
