04 Maxima Strut/Shimmy problems

How many people have had problems with the struts or a front end shimmy on their 04 Max? I have a shimmy that cannot seem to be fixed. Reading the posts on some web sites leads me to believe that a large number of people are having problems. I heard of people having to replace all the struts several times...apparently even the repalcement struts are bad. There is a new part available in some areas, but there is a waiting list in others. Let's hear from you if your Max has suspension problems.

I am having a similar problem but no shimmy. I am having a rattle from the front left side of the suspension.. and my back springs are very sqeaky... bringing it in this week... I will mention this to the dealer that people are having trouble with the suspension. I thought I felt a shimmy for a day or so then it no longer shimmied. Might have had snow in the tire.

The noise may be a bad strut. I have heard that there was a TSB issued for the problem, ask your service manager. I believe this TSB recommends replacing the struts in pairs. Let us know if this fixes the problem.

Our MAX ls an 04 Auto SE Goodyear Eagles 15,000 miles no shimmy, vibration, or strut problems to date. Is your Max SE or SL? What is your milage? What tires? When were they rotated? Any accidents?

04 SE, Auto 5,000 mi Goodyear Eagles Not yet, but back to the dealer for a "fix" No I went to the Maxima.org website, and based on the responses here, about half of the Max owners responding have had front end problems. I know this is not a scientific poll, so I wanted to get an idea from other Max owners.

My 04 sounds like it has the same front end vibration. I have had the front tires and both struts replaced. Nissan has also spin balanced all four tires on at least six occasions and the problem still persists. Did you ever resolve your issue? If you did, what was the problem?
