96' Maxima front-side/rear lights wont illuminate during night driving...

I currently own a '96 GLE Maxima, 135K miles. Recently, when I turn on my headlight switch, my headlights illuminate, but the dimmer lights located on the front-side and rear lights do not turn on. When I press the brake, the rear lights turn on, but after I depress the brake, the lights completely off. Also, when I have the door open, with my lights on, the door chime cannot be heard. I cannot seem to find the fuse for this problem, so if anyone can lend me a suggestion or two, I would really appreciate it.

BTW...on my maxima, the radio antennea was ripped off during a car wash. I plugged up the hole with a paper wad, but i assume some water could've went in. Could that have shorted out the fuse??

The fuse is nowhere near the antenna. If there is any problem from ripping off the antenna, it would be a leak in the trunk only if the drain hose was dislodged.

wow...my trunk has a drain hole?? then where can i find the fuse that handles that illuminates the front-side and rear lights when i turn on my headlights??? Thank you for the tip on the trunk.

The fuse should be in the under dash fuse box (left lower side of the dash). Check fuse number 5. It should be 7.5 amp. I am looking at the service manual for a '96 I30. The Max should be the same. If number 5 doesn't do it, look for tail-lights on the fuse box cover.

thanks a lot, i will give your suggestion a try. Thanks!!
