99 Maxima GLE gathers dust

I believe the color is "Rosewood". I'll trade you my 96 pebble beige GLE :) which never shows dirt.. heh heh... how many miles on your Max? Did you get your antenna fixed yet?

Be careful about waxing it,,,my owners manual recommends against that. If you do, use something approved by Nissan.

and if you can not keep your Burgundy color clean,,,try keeping a black one like mine clean ,,LOL

I have one of those California Duster things,,it does work well if its just dust.

Didn't get it fixed yet, but horrible noise has stopped. After I read your message above, I looked at the antenna, and it is LONGER. Maybe it extended itself? Tonight, while I was shutting off the ignition, I made a point of looking back at the antenna. It kinda shuddered in place, but didn't make groaning noise. So maybe it decided to stabilize where it is.

I never even knew it WAS retractable till I asked on this NG; never had one of them puppies before.

Now I have to figure out why I get such lousy mileage. Not that I believed the figure the sales people gave, but still...!

When all's said & done, however, it is a beautiful and elegant car, so I hope we go wheel in hand down the years

Go get some wd 40 or other spray oil and give that antenna a nice lube,,

My 2000 gets 18 to 20 in town, and 25 to 28 on the road...pretty much what the EPA sticker said.

I have a 95 with original antennae.

Silicon spray is what I use to lube the antennae and what I tell everyone else to use. Regular maintenance throughout the winter is a must.

The biggest problem I have had is that the antennae gets bent in the wind and so it must be carefully unbent to prevent jamming.

Around town in stop and go driving I will get around 17 mpg or 18 mpg if I'm lucky.

Since the first 20,000 miles when I used mid grade gasoline that's been with REGULAR. The figures are identical for both grades of gasoline however. I've always used the cheapest gasoline available, ARCO for several years and lately others with the 5% rebate on gas credit cards since ARCO won't accept credit cards. I have to buy the California gasoline that loses some energy content during the summer in particular with the additives to meet the CA smog requirements. And now with the "Midwestern Corn Farmers Subsidy Act" we have to have the useless Ethanol as an additive.

You are getting exactly the mileage I and the EPA would expect.

A Corrola - many 100s of lbs lighter, and at least 100 HP less - also exactly what I would expect from it.

Doped gas - yes.. 5 to 10 percent lower mileage - why, well you need to ask ADM and the congressmen they pay off in November why. Has nothing to do with reducing pollution anymore,,,,,

Mid-grade is not premium. Premium is 91 octane or higher. I would not expect any difference between regular and mid-grade. They are both non-optimal.

As of 3-10-08, I have only put about 4+ K on the original 92. Can't afford to drive anywhere anymore, with the godawful gas prices in Calif. (not that they're much better anywhere!!!).

Yes, they fixed antenna for free, but get this: I just had it in for tuneup, and apparently the guy forgot to lower the antenna, so it stuck in Up position again! They are going to fix it for free, since it's their fault.

At the moment, in Southern California, I am paying $3.59 per gallon (U.S.) of 87 octane gas. Higher octane is higher prices. Calif usually has higher prices than rest of country.

Can't afford to go anywhere. Back to the Big Blue Bus!
