Gauge accuracy?

How accurate are the MPG, Temperature, etc. I have a 03 Maxima GLE that is reading on the average 32 mpg. Can this be right? Thanks for any info.

I don't have an 03, but many times the mpg gauge is reading the fuel flow and car speed, calculating the instantaneous mpg value. So on the highway the number is nice and high, and pulling out from a traffic light it's really low. Usually you can change a setting to see the cumulative mpg for the tank.

How does 32mpg compare to your experience at the gas pump?

MPG is a gross approximation. It is NOT accurate. I keep logs of miles with every fill up to get MPG which is usually some 24mpg in mixed highway/city driving.

You'll also be in the low to mid teens until the engine warms up if you live where it gets very cold.
