Headlight Lamp Upgrade 98 Maxima

Has anyone tried upgrading the Maxima headlight to halogen or "blue lights"? I find the OEM rather dull compared to what is available on the newer vehicles. Your reply is appreciated.

Make damn sure you check the wattage rating so you don't overheat the wires or blow a fuse.

And IMO the blue lights are rice. True HID is different.

Can wattage rating be found on old bulbs or in manual?

Just don't go with overwatt bulbs are go with a color that is patently blue. White with a slight tinge of blue is acceptable and generally won't get you in trouble. If you want pure white, Sylvania Silverstars are decent but don't last as long as OEM bulbs because they actually burn brighter with the same wattage. Also, cheaper aftermarket bulbs have a tendency to fry your headlight harness (as do overwatt bulbs). AFtermarket HID conversion kits are available for your 9007's but the beam pattern is not the greatest and selling them is reportedly illegal although you can still find sellers around. I have HID in my 9004's and like them alot--the color is pure white...very pleasing to my eye. Have them pointed down way low because of the additional glare.

Thanks for your reply -- I will explore the options and try not to burn out my electrical system.
