Actually, most peope have disapeared from most newsgroups these last few months! :(
The only one of those that I frequent that is still "busy" is uk.d-i-y which still attracts several hundred postings per day. It is also very informative.
That's surprising, it's been around for years along with free.uk.diy.home which is less used but still a good source of help. On the first one, you are putting the hyphens in aren't you? It is so popular that an FAQ web site has been set up containing lots of the more frequent items, it's here
