Just had aircon regassed and was working OK but if car is left in the hot sun (just when you need aircon) the compressor and fan cut out after about 15 secs. Allow car to cool in the shade and everything OK. Any clues as to what might cause this? Tony

Maybe high side pressure getting too high. Are the fans at the front running ok?
Hmm. If the system is overgassed, it won't work as efficiently, and you say it works well when it does. Overgassing can cause the compressor to cut out, but normally the pressure will drop quickly in this case and the compressor come back on ( a few seconds later).
Feel the high pressure pipe from the compressor, as a general rule, if it gets too hot to hold, the pressure may be too high. Only way to be sure is to get the gauges on.
Good luck.
Not really. If the fan is working, the condensor (which is right at the front of the car) will only see outside air temp.
