407,Poor Brakes, nervous steering.poor ride

I'm interested to hear from anyone with a 407 hdi 110 se saloon with concerns on: Poor brakes with long pedal travel, seems worse in slow traffic ! Also foot fouls on brake pedal mechanism and I'm only size 9 shoe! also, Unstable ride, suspension seems very harsh on anything but the smoothest surface...white lines and small road imperfections really jar the suspension...feels like a go-cart. Steering needs constant correction to hold a straight line on motorway and steering seems slow to self centre on slow sharp corners

Mine is December 2005 55reg and done only 2200 miles.

Have a look at Honest John website. (Telegraph Motoring). He enthuses over the car- and he's usually pretty critical. DaveK.

Why not take the car back to the dealer and ask them to check it over?

Do you have huge alloys? Won't affect the brakes, but could be the reason for the poor ride.

No problems with my size 13 1/2 s in a petrol 2.0 SE. I'd imagine the pedals are the same. Never-the-less, people larger than me seem to have no trouble driving cars I can't fit in so it really does vary from person to person.

You obviously test drove one before you bought it, so you know what they should be like. So go back to your Peugeot dealer, and point out the faults with your 407. If necessary, take them out in their Demonstrater 407 to show the differences. Yours is under warranty, so you won't be paying for the repairs !

Of course, the other scenario is that you have a perfectly healthy 407, and you just dislike the way it drives. But in that case, you'd never have bought one after your test drive - so the only conclusion is that yours is broken.
