Run it down to a M.O.T place and ask them could they do a test on the smoke coming out of the exhaust.

so its getting pass the piston rings. might be time to get rid of it or put some piston sealer in the bores

What colour is the smoke? Unburnt fuel is normally white, and is a classic symptom of retarded injection timing on a diesel. If your smoke is black, then this is too much fuel being burnt. Blue smoke is oil. Assuming it is black smoke, then the pump has a sensor activated by the boost pressure. this gives more fuel when the turbo kicks in. It sounds to me that this is stuck open. It is a diaphragm on the top of the pump, and there is normally a small pipe to it from the intercooler, or somewhere on the inlet manifold or piping. Where did you get the work done so far? You would be better trying to speak to a diesel injection specialist, look them up in Yellow Pages. I know the ones round me, but I don't know where you are.

Hi I've looked for this diaphragm but the only thing on the top of the pump is wire that runs into the pump under a plastic cover then runs to the ecu unit,Don't know if this helps but the pump is the lucas one. I've been advised that maybe The amount of fuel being dellivered needs to be weekend off? any idea how this is possible.
