I'm in the process of buying another car. I've seen a 206 GTi from 10/2000 with LPG (gas), and I'm interested. I have an appointment for next week. So before I go I want to know if there are any specific points I have to look out for. It has 155.000 km with full history. What are the weaknesses of this car? Is it sporty? Are there any known troubles with the engine if you use LPG? Every little bit of information is welcome.

Stay away unless it's a closed loop lpg system.
I have owned 3 LPG cars, (not closed loop)- all suffer from backfiring blowing off the airbox etc....

Probably all installed / set up wrong then, as I've not had a single backfire in normal use from the open loop system on my Land Rover. One way to reduce/eliminate the risk of backfires is to ensure the ignition system is in A1 condition as LPG engines are very very sensitive to a weak spark. I use (and recommend) Magnecor KV85 HT leads, and also make sure your rotor arm, dizzy cap and plugs are all in good nick.

No such thing as leads/rotor-arm/dizzy-cap on a modern engine :)
Then they've been setup wrongly ! Installed correctly, you shouldn't have any such issues with an LPG system, be it closed-loop or otherwise.
Just read the LPG auto's newsgroup, there are plenty of people out there with such issues. All I am saying is - How does he know it has been installed and set-up correctly?
