two Q's for one: Damp rear seats on 306 XSi, also replacing lambda sensor

Hi all my aging '95 306 XSi is getting damp under the rear seats ... if you flip up the seats the padding underneath is damp to sodden. Having a brief scout around this area doesn't reveal anywhere obvious that the water could be coming in from ... any thoughts?

And whilst I'm here ... can anyone tell me where the lambda sensor is positioned on this model? How much of a pig would it be to replace?

Thanks a lot jon N

the leak could be coming in from the door seal or from under the car, best way to find out is run a hose pipe under the car.trying not to get wet,and your find the lamda sensor on the down pipe of the exhaust ,its got wires coming from it and it is some time a sod to do.good luck. chris addlestone

Actually, I may have ... I'm based in Brighton and noticed my engine was jerking quite a lot recently ... I also topped up at a Tescos in Lewes a little time before (not sure of dates).

So it was with great interest that I read of these stories. To be fair though, I have thought my sensor was up for renewal before this ... it doesn't help that I half-filled the tank with diesel a year or so ago ;-/. I can hardly blame Tescos for that, but after the grief the poor thing may have suffered recently I was wondering about fitting a new one regardless.

[FWIW I also occasionally get the 'engine dies at a junction' problem, which others have suggested might be due to lambda problems. I've had the idler stepper changed with little effect]

Cheers Jon
